The Rave 'n' Iron jewelry is so unique, cool and good for the environment that I almost wasn't going to share.
I met Canadian metalsmiths Giselle Duval and Tim Andrew at the Portobello West markets this summer. A charming and talented duo they are! Each pendant, earring or belt buckle starts as a rusty, reclaimed piece of steel that is hand crafted in varying stages by Giselle and Tim into a one of a kind piece of art - or as they like to say 'self-decor treasures'. I love their guiding principle: Reclaim, Sustain, Remain.
As the daughter of a welder, I was particularly drawn to their work. I've seen my fair share of discarded metal so to see something so beautiful being reclaimed out of a discarded chunk of metal is awe-inspiring. If only I had learned the trade before I left home! By the end of the summer I had two beautifully unique pendants all of my own. Both of which have caught the eye of both friends and strangers.
Giselle and Tim are from Victoria, BC where they work from their home studio but Vancouverites have another chance before Christmas to shop at Portobello West's Holiday Market on December 13th + 14th (you might catch me their picking up the owl belt buckle I've been eyeing). Or, you can shop online 24/7 at The Rave 'n' Iron's Etsy Shop.
