Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation adds Milk Factory Designs  ‘Crawl. Walk. Run.’ to 2005 Campaign

Proceeds from Pink Ribbon kids t-shirt sales go directly to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation

(Vancouver, B.C.  July 13, 2005) Milk Factory Designs, a Vancouver-based leader in children’s clothing specializing in “Survival Gear for Families,” announced today that for the second year in a row, it will raise funds for the CIBC Run for the Cure through the sale of its unique Pink Ribbon kids t-shirt. This year the company is partnering with the BC/Yukon Chapter of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The Pink Ribbon kids t-shirt, and Milk Factory’s involvement with the CBCF, will be unveiled on Friday, July 15 at the Vancouver Run’s next event: the Team Captain’s Breakfast Symposium.

“We are thrilled to partner with Milk Factory on this new fundraising initiative,” says Darlene Tavares, Run for the Cure Director, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, BC/Yukon Chapter. “Children attend our event for free. These t-shirts are a great opportunity for the many families that attend our Run to include their kids in the fundraising efforts.”

The sale of the Pink Ribbon kids t-shirt began in 2004 as a team fundraising effort. Milk Factory formed a small team that raised just over $500 in online donations and shirt sales. This year, the team hopes to raise $5000. Milk Factory founders, Tomi Eng and Penny Seto, began participating in the Run in support of a close friend who was a breast cancer survivor. “We came up with the idea because we saw so many kids, including our own, wearing oversized adult t-shirts,” said Tomi Eng, Milk Factory Designs co-founder. “To raise money for future Runs, we decided to design infant, toddler, and youth-sized t-shirts with a kid-friendly Pink Ribbon logo and the slogan “Crawl. Walk. Run.” written in a whimsical child’s printing font,” added business partner Penny Seto.

For the 2005 CIBC Run for the Cure, the BC/Yukon Chapter of CBCF will make the $15 t-shirts (sizes 12m, 2T, 4T, Youth S) available to participants through the following BC Run sites: Abbotsford, Kamloops, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Prince George, and Vancouver. Details for each Run site can be found at www.cbcf.org. The t-shirts are also available all-year-round on the Milk Factory website: www.milkfactory.com. Milk Factory will donate $3 from each t-shirt sale to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

On Sunday, October 2, 2005, the Milk Factory team will be running for Gabi Helms, their friend who inspired the Milk Factory founders to participate in the Run, and who died of breast cancer two days after giving birth to her first child. To get involved in the fight against breast cancer, register online for the CBCF CIBC Run for the Cure at www.cbcf.org.
